Lottery Ticket
This story is typical of our society today. Each family wanted a fair share of whatever the end prize was for the lottery. More people were concerned with the process of how everyone recieved their peice of paper and where and when the "ceremony" would take place than actually winning. I could definitely see how other cities and towns quit using the lottery becuase of how confusing and mean people get duriung the whole thing. In their town children play a much bigger role in their communty. Some of the children were even like the father figure in the home to where they had go a pick out the piece of paper out of the black box. I thought that was pretty unusual. Even though the ending leaves the reader wondering what the end result of it all, its still was good beacuse it allows your mind to picture whatever ending you want it to be.
Young Goodman
Even though the story started out kind of boring with short conversation between him and his wife, it was very apparent what the story was gtoing to be about. I started to feel bad when he had to leave his wife to go take care of some business but I felt like the bad dreams or omens she was having were just lies to keep him from going to handle business. Her complaints seemed to get to him and he started o feel bad on his journey with the other older man by making up excuses of why he should go back home and be with his "heart". This scenario is just like in todays society where many couples face this issue. The man of the house goes off to work for several days with the women left to care for the home and children, even if they have a job themselves.
